Courses

For parents

Our 8 “easy to implement” online parenting steps are the foundation for parents trying to keep their kids safer and saner online!

This highly practical and informative workshop was developed to help parents (and teachers) to implement 8 critical steps to help keep kids safer and saner online. It includes analysis from global futurist, Graeme Codrington, on what this means for your child’s future and why this course is so vital for today’s modern parent!

The normal price is $37 (roughly R620), but if your school is keen to advertise it to your parents, this is the deal:

  • attendees will receive a $10 discount (making it about R540, or a dinner out with the family)
  • your school will receive one third of the workshop price towards your fundraising.

For learners

Be in Touch talk and survey

After talking to more than 3 000 South African and UK learners in the last two years, we’ve collected some valuable data into what tweens and teens are really doing, seeing and experiencing online. Using these insights, as well as Josh’s own personal life lessons, we can prepare a personal, age appropriate 45 min talk, to share with learners at your leisure, prompting them to share back to us via our carefully crafted anonymous survey. We’ll crunch this into feedback that you can use as a school community to focus your curriculum as well as activate your parents.

The Informed and Empowered Programme

Rob Cop and Zareen, the Kiwi filmmakers responsible for the documentary “Our Kids Online” have spent the last couple of years travelling New Zealand giving evening talks to teachers and school parent communities. What have they learned? That many teachers and principals feel like they’re drowning with all the issues kids are bringing to school based on their online use and activities outside of school, and that it’s hard to find the time and resources to tackle these issues that seem to be getting worse by the week. Kids falling asleep in class, online fights, nudes and inappropriate material being passed around, cyberbullying… the list goes on!

And so, they have created a fully facilitated online educational film series, specifically made for schools to help tackle these issues. The course is not only for educating students but also for your parent community as well as staff for professional development. Check out what the programme entails and how it could be a great (and affordable!) fit for your school Introducing The Informed & Empowered Programme

  • My child's school had Be In Touch come in and talk to the students (including doing polls and surveys), and then followed that with a session for parents in which they shared some of the data, experiences, and conversations that came up. It made for a really relevant and focused session for the parents, with practical tips and solutions to assist them with keeping kids safe online. I also enjoyed the way they highlighted the partnership between schools, staff and parents, and prioritised children's safety and security over popularity and privacy. As a teacher and parent, I highly recommend Josh and Kate, and their sessions.
