Integrated School Program

INTEGRATED SCHOOL PROGRAM

Like sugar and sun, we know that too much is dangerous to our health. As parents, we now have to add digital parenting to our repertoire, but the benchmarks for how much and of what are not yet clearly defined – and in fact may themselves be broken.

  1. Be in Touch is all about
    • showing families how to create and keep a digital alliance
    • helping parents to make the right choices in their digital parenting role
    • assisting schools to educate parents on their children’s digital world
    • helping parents, teachers and children to consciously manage digital dilemmas
    • providing practical tools to help keep a balanced and healthy digital diet

OVERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL PROGRAM

  1. Taking parents on the journey:
    • 1hr morning or evening interactive session for parents at the school
    • Stimulating and thought-provoking discussion of the neuroscience behind the attraction to digital devices, what they offer and how they exert their pull
    • Psychological, physiological and social impact of the digital world and practical tools to more consciously manage it as a family.
  2. Facilitating sharing and collaboration amongst teachers
    • 2 hr session with teachers
    • Discussion of the neuroscience behind the attraction to digital devices, what they offer and how they exert their pull
    • Psychological, physiological and social impact of the digital world and implications for teaching
    • Facilitation of sharing and discussion of challenges and best practices, to more consciously manage digital dilemmas as a school.
  3. Conducting grade specific, interactive sessions with learners
    • 45 min – 1hr grade-specific sessions with max group size of approx. 20
    • Interactive, fun and informative discussions covering the impact of the digital world on joy, friendships, and physical development.
    • Age appropriate videos are watched and discussed empowering children without creating unhealthy curiosity
  4. Report back to school and / or parents
    • Trends are picked up and noted, relating to the amount and types of digital media being consumed by different age groups
    • Anonymous questions are written down by learners to assist schools in further intervention programs.

What does it cost?

Our daily rate is R10 400-00 with a maximum of 4 sessions per day, be it parent, teacher or learner interactions. This includes a written report of the trends, issues, concerns and dilemmas picked up in each of the grade specific interactions.
